Tallyfor is a cloud-based application built to streamline and automate your book to tax adjustments, coding, and data entry, making tax season a little less taxing.
How does it work
Tallyfor works with Xero, Quickbooks Online, Quickbooks Desktop, Sage Intacct, and Excel. Simply connect Tallyfor to your online accounting platform or upload an Excel Trial Balance into the software. From there, you can quickly and easily map accounts to the appropriate lines on the client’s tax return as well as rename, group and subtotal accounts. Additionally, you can make Book, Tax and Reclass Journal Entries with just a few clicks.
Once you’ve completed the initial coding and adjusting entries, simply push the data over to your tax software. Tallyfor syncs with Prosystem fx, CCH Axcess, Drake, Lacerte and UltraTax.
What I like about Tallyfor
Tallyfor is simple to use and can take hours off tax prep time. Once you’ve completed the initial mapping, Tallyfor will roll-forward those preferences year to year, so you only need to update newly added accounts, make journal entries and you are ready to go.
In addition to being extremely efficient, Tallyfor provides you with the reports and workpapers already formatted and ready to download so you have the backup you need.
Tallyfor’s support team is outstanding. They are dedicated to providing the best software experience, are responsive and truly appreciate feedback on how to improve their product.
Drawbacks
I honestly really like Tallyfor and the drawbacks to me are minor. Tallyfor is still in its Beta version so that means there are still some kinks being worked out. But like I’ve mentioned before, the service team is awesome and happy to take product feedback into future development.
Additionally, working with an Excel Trial Balance does take a little editing on your end before it’s formatted to upload the data correctly. But Tallyfor provides an easy to find template in their support section. The ideal scenario here, would be to connect Tallyfor to your accounting software for a quick and easy trial balance import.
